Murray State University
Hello! I currently serve as the Assistant Director of Recruitment at Murray State University. I completed both my undergraduate and graduate work at Murray State and have been a Racer in one form or another for almost a decade. I have worked in higher education for five years with some of that time spent working in New Student Orientation at Murray State and the University of Louisville. As someone who was a first generation college student from a low-income background, I am especially passionate about making college accessible for all students. After recruiting in five different territories, I was very excited to set down roots in St. Louis and serve our Missouri and Metro-East students as a regional representative. In my two
years living in the Show-Me state, I've found a supportive network of admissions professionals with STARR (St. Louis Area Regional Representatives) and MOACAC. During the pandemic, I bought my first home in South City where I live with
my partner Katie and our dog Batata.
NACAC Alternate Assembly Delegate - Secondary School
Abby Jelavich
St. Teresa's Academy
I come to STA with almost 10 years in college admissions at a variety of Institutions across the US. Abby participated in WACAC's 2016 Leadership Development Institute and chaired two Bay Area Share, Learn and Connect (one day, "mini-conference") events in 2017 and 2018. She has presented at WACAC and PNACAC annual conferences and WACAC Share, Learn and Connect events and was a member of the 2015 San Francisco NACAC fair planning committee. Abby also participated in College Board's 2017-2018 Western Region Enrollment Leadership Academy and presented at College Board Forum in 2018. Abby is
currently completing her first year on the MOACAC Executive Board as Spring Conference Co-Chair. Abby is also a volunteer for ScholarMatch, an external application reader for the University of San Francisco, and Assistant Swim Coach for STA. She loves barbecue, microbrews, the Kansas City Chiefs and musical theater and lives with her husband and two herding dog mixes.

NACAC Alternate Assembly Delegate
Post - Secondary School
I am a proud born and raised St. Louisian and I'm so lucky to be the St. Louis Regional Rep for Kansas State University. After graduating from K-State, I immediately moved back to my hometown and jumped right in getting involved with MOACAC and the St. Louis Regional Representatives (STARR). At the end of my first year as a regional, I was elected the Secretary of STARR and have been in that position ever since helping to create and facilitate new events and college access opportunities including a college search series and an ACT prep workshop. I’ve served on the MOACAC Communications Committee since 2019 and currently serve as Chair. When I’m not involved in those things, I’m in classes working towards my Masters
Degree in School Counseling and hope to switch sides of the desk one day soon! Coming from a family of educators, I have a deep rooted love and respect for this work and the real impact we have on students lives every day. In my free time, you can find me outside trying my best to be a good gardener, exploring fun foods at new restaurants, or spending time on my back patio with friends and family!
I have worked on both “sides of the desk” in college admissions and now as a high school college counselor.
Being a member of MOACAC has had such a positive impact on my professional development over the years. On a personal level, I’ve met some of my favorite people as well! As a MOACAC member I have served on the Executive Board, on the conference planning committee and as the conference co-chair. I live in Town & Country with my husband, my daughter and our multiple dogs. We spend much of our free time traveling and eating good food!
